Why I Love WordPress, Chrome, FF and Stock.xchng

Click and Drag! Photo by Bri C

So I found out something really cool yesterday when I was writing my Onlywire post. I had a FF window open because that’s where all my Roboform keywords are and I was searching for free stock photos with Chrome. For the hell of it, I just tried dragging and dropping the photo from Stock.xchng, open in a Chrome browser window, into the post I was writing in WordPress (version 2.6.1), open in a FF window, and voila! IT worked.

Maybe I’m lame and people have known about this for ages, but I’m sure there’s many others who don’t. So kids, no need to find, upload and save anymore – just click and drag from browser to browser. Keep in mind that it imports whatever photo you’re dragging (e.g. if its a thumbnail, it imports the thumbnail, not the main pic).

After you’ve imported the pic, its easy to click on it and add the alt text, description, tags and alignment preferences. Fyi is works Chrome -> Chrome, FF -> FF, FF -> Chrome, Chrome -> FF. I’m not sure about Safari or Opera, but it doesn’t work with IE 7. Also note: be sure when clicking and dragging its from one window to another, not one tab to another.
