Upcoming New Reddit User Interface
According to Brent Csutoras, Reddit has a sneak preview of a new UI for Reddit that will be implemented later this week. To check out the new screenshots, please check out his post here. There has been a lot of talk centering on Reddit lately and it seems to be Brent Csutora’s new darling, with good reason.
It’s not as crowded as Digg and far more articles worth of the front page make it here, IMHO. Its easy to use (reportedly even easier with the new UI) and still newer, so there’s less of a hierarchy than established site’s like Digg tend to have.
Some of the differences you will notice, according to Brent:
- Nav bar is replaced by a drop down menu (not sure how much I like this new feature, but time will tell);
- Submissions will be ordered and organized differently;
- You have the option of selecting whichever subreddits you want to see in your main area of Reddit.com. Its nicer, because you have control over how many you see at any given time. Before, in order to see all the topics within favored reddits, users had to visit each one separately;
- Momentum arrows that indicate if a story has been voted up or down in the line;
- Several other cool, smaller features.
I can’t wait to see how it looks and see if my user experience is much different than before.
