How to Customize Your Facebook Profile Page

Here’s a step by step guideline to creating a solid company profile on Facebook:
1) After you’ve created your Facebook profile, you will be prompted to find friends. Don’t worry about that right now, so skip it.

2) Go to the upper left hand corner and click “Profile.”

3) Under “Profile” you will see, from left to right, Upload profile picture, Friends, Your Company Name, Information and The Wall.

  • Click on upload profile picture, browse, select your photo, agree to TOS and upload it.
    • You’ll be taken to your picture page. Here you can upload another picture, adjust your thumbnail version or remove a picture.
    • Adjust your thumbnail image.

4) Scroll up and look at the tabs to the left of the Picture tab.

5) Go through and fill them out one by one:

  • Basic:
    • Fill out the info, but if you’re a company, don’t worry about political or religious views;
    • Birthday should just be that of the person filling out the form;
    • Save the changes.
  • Contact:
    • Add your IM name if your company has one (for example, ours is support@authoritydomains.com through Windows Live Messenger);
    • Make sure your email is correct;
    • Add your company phone number;
    • Add your company address;
    • Add your website;
    • Save changes.
  • Relationships:
    • As a company, skip this section.
  • Personal:
    • Activities:
      • State which clubs, groups or or events you’re a part of, what your company does and etc. (e.g Authority Domains, we’d say something like “Browsing the internet, hanging out in online communities, talking with people, RockStar;p”);
    • Interests:
      • State what you’re interested in as a company (e.g. as Authority Domains, we’d say something like “Link Building, Networking, Social Media, Blogging, Helping people create more effective websites”);
    • Favorite music:
      • Add something like “Anything with a good beat that helps us work;p”
    • Favorite TV Shows:
      • Ask a handful of your employees to give you one of their favorite shows and add something like: “We like everything from Quantum Leap and Scrubs to Bullshit! and Southpark;”
    • Favorite Movies: follow same idea as you did for favorite TV shows;
    • Favorite Quotes: follow same idea as you did for favorite TV shows;
    • About Me: just add an engaging version of your company About Us or mission statement;
    • Save changes at the bottom of the page.
  • Education: skip this section unless you’re a sole proprieter or independent contractor;

6) Now click on your Profile tab again and you’ll your profile all filled out.

7) GO find some friends!
